StartINVAfrica Exhibition set to hold in Lagos from December 17-18, 2015

Start-up Meets Investor (StartINVAfrica) is an exhibition in Lagos slated to hold from the 17th to 18th December 2015. The event was birthed from the desire to introduce new ideas and showcase new businesses to over 600 attendees consisting of investors, industry leaders, delegates and stakeholders. There have been several layoffs in the last quarter of the year especially in the Oil and Gas, Banking & Finance, Telecoms sectors, and has  made it expedient  to bring senior delegates and speakers from within and outside Nigeria to join the talent conversation featuring keynote and speed mentoring sessions, quick pitches, master classes laced with fun and business networking.

StartINV hopes to reach out to small businesses in all sectors of the economy; Agric and allied businesses, fashion and commerce, manufacturing and other businesses.  Hopeful entrepreneurs and SMEs will have grand opportunities of showcasing their goods and services to those present; investors.

According to the founder of Start-up Meets Investor, Ized Uanikhehi, Nigeria and Africa are in need of more entrepreneurs to contribute to the growth and all round development, especially with the fall of oil prices.

“There have been lots of layoffs this year in the light of the oil prices and that has also affected other industries, which has contributed to the large downsizing witnessed this year. Sub-Saharan Africa still has the world’s highest percentage, 29% of young people who are involved in new or nascent businesses. Hence, we decided to provide an avenue where these entrepreneurs can meet up with investors to aid them realise their dreams, which in turn will light up Africa.”

There will also be mentors to provide financial guidance and intellectual support to successful attendees/entrepreneurs.

The lineup of speakers will see acclaimed writer Tolu Ogunlesi, Chairman, Bank of Industry, Mr. Rasheed Adejare Olaoluwa, Managing Director Siemens Nigeria, Mrs. Tifase Onyeche, Intellectual Property and Technology Lawyer, Nana Nwachukwu and Iyin Samuel Aboyeji amongst others.

Hopeful entrepreneurs and SMEs should log unto and register their businesses. Provisions are being put in place to ensure business documents and activities of all SMEs participating are authenticated to help give them a fair chance to have individuals or corporate organizations invest in their ideas.
