Orange & Alcatel Launch Cheapest 4G Phone in Africa

Orange together with Alcatel, have launched the ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI 2 smartphone, an affordable $ 60 smartphone aimed to put mobile internet in more people’s hands in Africa and the Middle East. Last year, the ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI was a huge and sold about 2500,000 units within 6 months and it quickly become the most popular smartphone in Orange shops in African and the Middle East.

On the spec sheet this is what the ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI 2 come with a not so old version of Android Jellybean 4.2 smartphone with a 3.5″HVGA screen, dual SIM, dual-core 1.0 GHz processor, 2GB of memory and 512 MB of RAM. The specs are clearly nothing to speak home about but it get the job done.


The phone comes packed with 3G and 4G networks compatibility, making it the cheapest 4G phone so far and this will enable Orange continue to accelerate mobile internet connections and usage across Africa and Middle East. We are yet to confirm which 4G compatibility bands. The ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI 2 comes pre-loaded with the top social networks and other popular applications, and Orange customers will have access to a range of great benefits, including Orange Football Fan Club, Orange Updates, “My personal hotspot” and Lookout Mobile Security. The device also comes with My Orange and the Control My Data feature.

The OneTouch PIXI 2 will soon be available via Orange outlets in 21 countries across Africa, the Middle East and select countries in Europe and Asia.
