MTN Zambia Merges with MTN Business to Converge Voice, Data and Clouding

MTN Zambia and MTN business, a local company providing internet connectivity services, have merged to provide more services including converged voice telephony, data, fibre internet connectivity and cloud hosting services.

MTN Business formerly known and operated as UNNET, but acquired by the MTN Group in 2010, is now the unit that will cater for corporations’ requirements such as cloud hosting.

According to the CEO of MTN Zambia, Abdul Ismail, “We are bringing together two powerful business functions with the sole objective of providing efficient and innovative enterprise business solutions to businesses of all sizes an in all industries in Zambia. We will be able to procure supplies affordably as one entity and pass on the savings to our customers through provision of affordable products and services.”

Following successful set-ups of cloud computing projects in other countries like Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Ivory Coast, Zambia has now joined the list offering this service.

Clement Asante, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Zambia is excited about this and said, “We are delighted that with this new enterprise business unit of MTN Zambia, which will maintain the name MTN Business, we are positioned to address the challenges faced by business in having access to digital technologies. Our MTN cloud services in particular will enable SMEs, large corporates and even small scale entrepreneurs to have access to various computer programmes, storage and services without having to invest heavily in acquiring such on their own.”
