Ghana to earn $13m from Pineapple Export

Ghana is expected to earn over $13 million in the next 5 years from the export of Smooth Cayenne Pineapples, reports Footprint to Africa.

This was disclosed by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), following the government’s introduction of the ‘planting for food and jobs’ project, which seeks to encourage large and small-scale farming across Ghana.

GEPA’a Chief Executive Officer, Gifty Klenam explained that over 15 million pineapple suckers will be given out to farmers for production, in order to meet the set revenue target.

This she says is to ensure the revival of this variety of pineapples due to its growing demand on the international market.
