The Tanzanian government has unveiled a massive plan that will see all teachers in primary and secondary schools being accommodated near their working stations, Daily News reports.
Along with teachers’ accommodation, the government will also construct vocational training colleges at districts levels to offer vocational education to the students failing to make it to the higher learning institutions.
The Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, said over the weekend that the plans were considered as the government manages to collect more revenues making it possible to meet all the people’s development aspirations.
“The government will work on housing problems facing its staff particularly the teachers in the near future. We are working on a workable housing scheme that will not be highly costly but friendly and affordable,” he explained.
Historically, he said, houses were previously built for specialized cadres like the police, doctors and the likes but time has come when teachers should be provided with the facilities not only as a motivation but also keeping them near the schools.
