Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has said that the installation of power distribution and transmission lines for the Wolqait Sugar Factory in Ethiopia’s Tigray Regional State will be completed in April 2016.
Foreign Relations Director at EEP, Misikir Negash, said 70 percent of the project is completed and installation of dual 230KV heavy duty power cables is being expedited.
Misikir told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) that the project, which has 75 power towers, is being undertaken by Ethiopians.
In addition to supplying power to Wolqait Sugar factory, the project is expected to supply power to locals, according to Misikir. He also noted temporary jobs for 200 citizens have been created.
