Ethiopia’s President, Mulatu Teshome, has said the country’s railway coverage will reach 5,000 km by 2025, according to Ethiopian News Agency.
Mulatu said this while discussing with Turkish delegates from Yapi Merkezi Construction Company undertaking the construction of Awash-Woldiya Railway project.
The president in the discussion noted that the country’s railway coverage would link Ethiopia with Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan and South Sudan.
It was indicated the Awash-Woldiya railway project is being constructed at a cost of $1.6 billion.
Murat Hasim Koksal, General Manager of Yapi Merkezi Construction Company, said 25 percent of the 370 km railway project is completed.
Turkey is the third country that has huge FDI in Ethiopia.
