The Addis Ababa Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Agency said that it is constructing 11 training centres in various parts of the city at a cost of about $23 million.
The Agency is building the institutes to improve the skill of manpower in leather and leather products, textile, agro-processing and metal manufacturing sectors.
In a field visit conducted to inspect the status of the centres in various parts of the city on Friday, Agency Director, Zeru Sumur, said the City Administration has allocated a huge budget and given due focus to the manufacturing sector during the Second Growth and Transformation Plan period. Hence, the Agency is currently making utmost effort to complete the construction of eleven modern centres in the city.
These centres are expected to produce highly skilled professionals in different fields who serve the country not only through technology transfer but also new technology innovations. The centres would play a great role in promoting the manufacturing sector both in quality and quantity. Their role in realizing the country’s renaissance is also of paramount importance.
Currently, more than 30 percent of the construction has been completed.
