Ethiopia to Start Exporting Transformers Soon

Ethiopian Power Engineering Industry (EPEI) has revealed plans to export transformers to the neighboring countries with an aim to secure foreign earnings for the country, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.

EPEI’s Deputy Manager Engineer, Gebrekidan Gebreyes, told FBC that EPEI has a transformer manufacturing capacity of 10,000 per year.

EPEI is currently manufacturing distribution, power and special transformers with 15,000-33,000 voltage. However, they state that the current local demand for transformer is not less than 13,000.

Major Assefa Yohannes, General Manager of EPEI, said the company could meet local demands within one and a half year and then it would start the export of transformers.
