The South African firm ‘Grindrod’ that provides locomotives for railway companies in 43 countries in Africa, has opened an office in Cameroon.
The branch, named Grindrod Rail Cameroon Limited, is co-managed by Michael Christian Schoeman and Patrick Michael Ferrar Southey.
In Cameroon, the South African company aims to provide integrated rail services and logistics solutions, specifically, “freight management and the provision of specialized rolling stock, the maintenance and leasing of locomotives, the maintenance of railways and railway sidings, etc.”
The installation of ‘Grindrod’ in Cameroon should strengthen its partnership with the Cameroon Rail Carrier (CAMRAIL), to whom the South African company has delivered nine locomotives worth 13.5 billion CFA francs, and whose commissioning was held on 19 October 2015 in Douala.
