Dangote Group has fixed 2018 as the year that its ongoing construction of Petrochemicals refinery will take off. The Management of Dangote Petrochemicals and Fertiliser Plant assured Nigerians that its 650,000 barrels per day capacity petroleum refinery would come on stream by 2018.
The Senior General Manager of Civil and Structural, Dangote Petrochemicals Limited, a subsidiary of Dangote Group, Madhav Kelkar, made the announcement when he took newsmen on a facility tour of the plant located at Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.
According to Kelkar, when the refinery comes on stream, it would boost the country’s refining capacity and enhance industrialisation.
He further stated that construction work on the projects was expected to be completed by 2017, while refining operation would commence by 2018, adding that the projects would create job opportunities for Nigerians.
He concluded by saying that the project, upon completion, will make Nigeria self sufficient in the refining of crude oil.
