Cabo Verde, an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean is located about 600 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa and has one of the highest tourist arrivals growth rate. It is particularly known for the immense amount of living species – plant and animal peculiar to it. The possibility of island-hopping makes this archipelago even more interesting!

Of Cabo Verde’s 10 islands, nine are inhabited – the Sal, Boa Vista, Santiago, São Vicente, Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Maio, Fogo and Brava. Sal is main hub for tourism as most visitors come in through the international airport located there. It is home to Santa Maria, where a magnificent beach of fine white sand enough to soothe frayed nerves. Boa Vista is somewhat similar to Sal has been attracting curious travelers who yearn for the ideal sunny holiday. As cultural centre of the country, São Vicente charms many with Mindelo it’s main town. Santo Antão, a ferry ride away from São Vicente scenic atmosphere is perfect for intimate getaways. Santiago is the largest of all the islands, it houses the seat of government and Cidade Velhe, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in the archipelago.

Don’t forget to learn a little portuguese and creole while there.
