Ethiopia and Sudan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a protocol agreement to work in collaboration in the areas of youth and sports development.
Ethiopia’s Youth and Sports Minister Redwan Hussien and his Sudanese counterpart Haider Galcuma Ateem signed the MoU Wednesday.
Minister Redwan said during the signing ceremony that the peoples of Ethiopia and Sudan have a long standing history. “The signing is indicative of improving their age old relations.”
According to FBC, the agreement focuses on areas of collaboration in youth development, sports, human trafficking and smuggling.
The Sudanese Minister said on his part that the agreement would strengthen the previous overall economic, social, political and people to people ties between the two nations.
He said that Youth Sports Academies constructed in Addis Ababa and Oromia state-Assela shows how the Ethiopian government gives emphasis to sports and youth.
He said: “The Ethiopian Youths Sport Academy that I have visited and the training center at Assela will be a good experience for Sudan as we are also building such sports and youth development facilities.”
According to the Ministry, the two countries have reached an agreement to work in the areas of youth capacity building and overall economic development programs in the youth and sports through training partnership and game organization.
